Scottish Links Course Background

Scottish Links Course Background

Before innovations like golf carts and advanced equipment, the sport’s first pioneers began inventing the game on rough, grassy areas near the coast of Scotland. We have collaborated with world-renowned golf architects Dr. Michael and Chris Hurdzan of Fry/Environmental Golf Course Design to create an original links-style course which harkens back to the sport’s origins in the 1800’s.

Playing at our course is a truly unique opportunity: only a few true links courses exist today (even in Scotland; only 17% of their courses are of this type). The course may be a challenge for today’s golfers, but the reward of playing on authentic terrain with genuine Hickory Shaft Clubs and golf balls of the type that were used then makes it an experience you won’t want to miss.

All courses (new and old) are a work in-progress. We are still tweaking development aspects and will continue to make changes to better enhance the course. Over time, it might assume a different look and feel, but the overall aspect and purpose of the course will remain the same

Our goal was to bring a historic golf experience to our beautiful Hocking Hills accommodations and we feel that we have accomplished this. We hope you will be able to enjoy this new Glenlaurel amenity one day soon, and encourage you to learn more about the history!
