Guest Spotlight: The Moffitts at Glenlaurel in Hocking Hills

Roderick & Connie Moffitt have stayed at Glenlaurel 19 times, totalling 57 nights. They were kind enough to talk with us about their Glenlaurel experiences, and we’re thrilled to share them with you!

Their first “Escape to Glenlaurel”

“In 2005, I wanted to take my husband on a little getaway weekend. We had previously received a Select Registry book, and I looked for places to stay in Ohio. Lo and behold, ‘Glenlaurel’ appeared. My husband is of Scottish descent, and since we weren’t in a position to travel to Scotland at that time in our lives, we decided to travel a mere four hours to this wonderful hamlet.

I didn’t tell Rick where we were going. I just packed the car and drove south. The moment we turned into the driveway we knew that we were truly in a mysterious glen far away from the hustle and bustle of the ‘real world.’ I think he was truly amazed. Rick isn’t necessarily a lover of Bed and Breakfasts, but I think I finally hooked him on this one, as Glenlaurel is so much more.”

Anniversary Traditions

“At least once a year (usually more often) we have made it our practice to visit our favorite little getaway. Since May 2005 we have visited 19 times for a total of 57 nights. In the last ten years we have spent 9 of our anniversaries. This year, we are looking forward to spending our 25th Anniversary right here at Glenlaurel. We are looking forward to our 3 days of peace and calm here at the Laurel before beginning the hectic pace of airports and holiday travel.”

Delightful Dining

“Oh my gosh! I am such a picky eater but whenever we have eaten at the Manor House we have been so overwhelmed with whatever we have been served; I always try whatever has been place before me. We love the idea of not having to choose from a menu and have been pleasantly surprised with all the dinners we have been served. The staff always goes out of their way to make our dinner experience pleasant. Even the chef stops by our table to seek our input on the evening fare.  Everyone there truly cares for their guests and it is evident.”

What makes Glenlaurel special for the two of you?

“From the very first moment we arrive until the minute we check out we are treated more like family than mere guests. Glenlaurel has truly become our ‘home away from home’ and will always be our favorite getaway spot. We look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries and getaways at our most favorite place on earth. Thank you to everyone who has made these memories so special – you are all friends.”
