Best of Ohio 2020 – We Made the List!

With so many tourist attractions to choose from, Ohio is a hot spot for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. With their annual “Best of Ohio 2020” poll, Ohio Magazine has managed to break down the unique categories so visitors could cast their vote for their favorites in each group.

Glenlaurel Snagged First Place
Although it comes as no surprise to those of us familiar with the area, Hocking Hills took top honors in several areas: Hiking Trails and Places to See Fall Leaves, to name a couple clear front runners. Glenlaurel snatched up First Place in the Bed & Breakfast/Inn category, and let me just say, we totally agree! For more on the 2020 winners, check out the Ohio Magazine article.

When you scope out some of our most popular amenities, it’s not hard to see why voters thought we deserved the top spot. For a closer look into why Glenlaurel shined bright among the rest, take a peek at some of our favorite offerings.

Ahh, breakfast…
A full, three-course gourmet breakfast is always included with a night’s stay. Beginning at 8:30 in the morning, houseguests awake from the silence of a refreshing night’s sleep to realize that someone else is preparing breakfast. Depending on the season, guests will be seated in the Glasgow or St. Andrews dining rooms or outside on the Grand Deck.

Sand Greens in Ohio?
The Scottish Links at Glenlaurel” is a replica of the links-style courses built as far back as 400 years in the British Isles. Nestled in the beautiful rolling hills and meadowlands on Glenlaurel’s Estate are eight links-style holes. The golfers experience will replicate that of Scottish golf from over 100 years ago, while playing on actual sand greens and tees and using original Hickory Shaft Clubs.

The Enchanting (Onsite) Gorge
Glenlaurel consists of 140 acres, which through the middle runs Camusfearna Gorge. The local topography is very hilly and broken by deep ravines and steep precipices. The gorge, which is located on our private estate, is a timeless place that changes with every season. The private walking trails, rock cliffs, and waterfalls showcase the most astonishing and beautiful trails, both on the Camusfearna Gorge Trail, the Highland Scott’s Trail, and Thistle Bluff Walk. These trails offer beautiful rock formations with 50–100-foot rock cliffs, caverns, two creeks, and waterfalls. Glenlaurel’s Estate is located in a unique location in the Appalachian region of Hocking Hills; we’re fortunate to have such a beautiful property and we welcome guests to explore all that we have to offer (minus the crowds at the state parks!).
