Executive Chef Josh at Glenlaurel has had a very busy month – he celebrated his one year anniversary with us, and he welcomed a job shadow into our Waif’s Haven Kitchen. High School Senior Kate is a budding culinary creative, with plans to attend college for Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management. She has helped in the kitchen from a very young age. Her favorite dish to preparer is crème brulee, which she helped make for Glenlaurel guests.
Kate spent two days in the kitchen with Chef Josh, learning how to create Glenlaurel’s signature 6 and 7 course fine dining experiences. She gained great hands on experience in our gourmet restaurant's kitchen, doing everything from initial setup to preparing and plating gourmet courses.
When asked about her experience, Kate said that she had expected the kitchen to get very chaotic at mealtime, and was pleasantly surprised to see how relaxed the environment was. She said the teamwork and atmosphere in Glenlaurel’s kitchen were great, and that Chef Josh was fun to learn from. “He taught me not to be stressed, and to go after what you want,” Kate stated. “He said he’d hire me after Culinary School!” When asked if she’d want to work for him, Kate gave a resounding “YES!”
Kate was a joy to have at Glenlaurel. Her positive attitude, great work ethic and ability to quickly learn demonstrated techniques signal a bright culinary future for this determined young woman. Thanks for visiting, Kate!
