It’s only a short time when the spirit of Charles Dickens is expected to make his annual dinner appearance at Glenlaurel. The Glenlaurel Estate is absolutely beautiful every day, but the holidays assume a magical spirit that is hard to describe. Imagine hundreds of lights and decorations, a tree decked out with twinkling ornaments and a roaring fire in the parlor. According to Charles Dickens, “it is required of every man,” the ghost returned, “that the spirit within him should walk abroad among his fellow-men, and travel far and wide; and, if that spirit goes not forth in life, it is condemned to do so after death.”
Since Charles Dickens first published A Christmas Carol in 1843, many artists and storytellers have told the classic tale, although many have never experienced the story at Glenlaurel for A Taste of Dickens.
About the dinner
The Dickens Dinner is a six-course tribute to the traditional dining choices of Victorian England and Scotland. During each course, there will be readings from the classic Charles Dickens story “A Christmas Carol” and other Christmas stories of note. Dinner is $49 per person, gratuity and tax additional.
